Aanii Friend!
My name is Bridget,
but my Anishinaabe name is Nimkiinagwaagankwe.

I'm an Anishinaabe author and illustrator from Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.
I currently live in London, ON with my wonderful son Noah and our cat, Captain Rex.

Raised in my home community along the shores of Lake Huron, I find a lot of inspiration in the natural world, my ancestral language, and the stories that move through my community. I love creating work that celebrates the ways humans connect to each other, the land, and the places and people we come from.

I graduated from Fanshawe College in 2021 with an Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design and that same year my debut picture book ”It’s a Mitig!” was the winner of the 2021/22 Periodical Marketers of Canada’s Indigenous Literature Award (It was a really good year!)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! I love working on projects that celebrate storytelling, connection, and the ways we relate to each other and the places we come from.

Most of the work I take on happens through partnerships with organizations, communities, and creative teams.

My schedule tends to fill up pretty quickly, but if you have something in mind, please reach out to bridget@bridgetgeorge.com with a little information about your project and timeline :-)

  • Inspiration is everywhere!
Lately, i’ve been finding a lot in the natural world, learning more Anishinaabemowin, the silly stories my son tells me, and the small moments I see out in the world, like people being kind to each other.

I think it also comes from taking the time to really notice the things around me, like the texture on trees, or a brave little sprout pushing through the concrete on a sidewalk :-)

  • I’m always really honoured when people ask this!
For literary inquiries, please reach out to my agent, Nicole Geiger, at Full Circle Literary: nicole@fullcircleliterary.com

Regretfully, i’m unable to take on self-published projects at this time.

  • I love this question! :-)
It kind of depends on what i’m feeling drawn to that day, but usually it’s somewhere around #CDE63B, or maybe #3A61E5-ish.

And sometimes something like #015958 if I’m feeling a little fancy~

  • My Anishinaabe name is Nimkiinagwaagankwe
It’s important to me to introduce myself with both my English and Anishinaabe name in new spaces.
It’s meaning and pronunciation is something I like to share in conversation, where there’s a bit more room for the story.

Ask me about it the next time you see me in person :-)

  • I love connecting with young readers and artists!
However, the moment, I’m not available for classroom visits for the remainder of the 2025/26 school year.

I’m hoping to open that up again in the future, so feel free to check back :-)

  • Great question, i’m so glad you asked :-)
My favourite dinosaur is an Ankylosaurus Magniventris.
You should look them up, they’re really cool.
